Cultural committee in keystone
organizes events monthly to motivate the employees and to engage the people
during events... There are set of people who belong to CC team and they meet
monthly once to discuss and finalize the event for the current month. As usual,
people belong to CC team met in a room along with HR for discussion... We came
up with so many event ideas and ended up with one. It’s the shahins idea “Philanthropic
event”. Everyone came up with idea like helping the orphanage, providing need
things to Kids in Government school, helping street beggars and so on. Surfed
the internet and plotted the various areas in Bangalore where the government
school needed things and Orphanages... The Main thumb rule we had is “if
searching for Orphanage, search for orphanage which is not famous and which
really needed help” as some Orphanages in Bangalore are fake. After week of internet
surfing , Shahin and Niranjan finalized Desire society Orphanage in the
Bannergata Road , Before finalizing the
place they both went to there and discussed with Management what are the things
they really needed and whether the Orphanage is really in need of Help “Hats off
to them”…
White Board placed in the
reception area with few drawing and quotes to denote the people “How helping
others make worthful the life is “... Mail was sent to the Keystone associates
regarding the event and the time of the event “The finalized event date was 27th
July 2014“... Raina one of the creative people in Handicrafts designed a badge
for the CC team and the badge was pinned in our shirts during the last few days
before the event... Boxes were placed in every floor... For the first few days,
boxes we empty and as the day closes by the boxes started to fill in faster
manner “Thanks Guys for your generous heart”…
The day came; volunteers met in office
and placed the sorted things in the Car... Few came in Car and few came in
bikes to the orphanage “Desire Society”... Reached the orphanage after few
turns and little little confusion in road diversions… After reaching there,
Cartons were unloaded and placed in the Hall area. For few minutes no one
showed up, so I gone inside and introduced myself to the guy who is managing
the orphanage... I peeped in to one of the room, I saw about 30 to 40 kids
sitting in ground and drawing something in white paper with color pencils. A
Lady in the room said, drawing competition is going on... Plenty of smiling faces...
I stepped outside the room and went back to the Hall area... The management guy
introduced himself and about the orphanage. Keystone volunteers placed the
carton inside the orphanage. Few volunteers started to help the kids in drawing
pictures, Umesh kid vaishnavi and Priya son took drawing paper and started to
draw...Time ran fast after spending time with kids there….
Drawing competition ended in 30
minutes... Niranjan and Shashank came with the idea of showcasing the talents
of the kids and distributing things for the kids who performed (Biscuits, Chocolates,
Note books, pencil and so on)...
For the ones who performed very well extra
prices were given… Few sang songs, three guys performed karate and some danced
for Singam 2 songs… Talent showcase went for an hour and kids enjoyed Very well...
Clock ticked 12:30 PM, time to leave and time for lunch... Since the management
had some plan of celebrating the birthday for a kid, we thought let’s take a group
snap and leave for the day... All of them lined in a row and clicked a group
snap…
Volunteers thanked everyone and went back to their home...
“We make a living by what we get ... We make a life by what we give”
