People have different perception about Bike racing. It’s Crazy, useless and so on...Bike racing, it’s just not you accelerate the throttle in your machine, overtake the person who is in front of you. It’s more than that...Until you are Passionate to drive and be focused on the mission you will not win the race... I used to watch some stunts mania TV programs often to hike my interest on bike riding, once my roomie said Murali perform better stunts than these after seeing a stunt. I don’t know who murali is, not even met him once...I read a blog once written by prem about Murali, a true nice quote..
“When you know you are heading first position in the race and confident that no one can overtake you, due you need a rear view mirror“…
Seems Funny, but a nice quote to think and understand the meaning behind the quote...Murali, A bike racer and a crazy guy in bike mechanics...During his college days , he doesn’t have any sponsors to sponsor him for bike racing.. Borrowed Bike from friends, knee caps and tight jerkin to protect him during bike racing, that’s it. Darning bike race there is a high possibility that you either die sometimes or it will make us handicap... July 2010 was a bad year for murali ... Things happened worse for him but he never lost his confidence. I can tell, he can be noted as an example for self confidence, inspiration and passion...
A year back when he was racing in Chennai bike race track near perungalathur at a speed of 140 kmph with sponsored Yamaha R15. He was in the second position and hunting for the first position in the race... Just a few distance and 5 seconds of effort will move him to the first position... Thinking, he slides the bike in a curve... At a speed of 140 kmph he lost his control. He and the bike were dragged in to the side track. He tried to lift the bike and tried to race but he was not able to. Later he realized that his right thigh broken in to two half and one half in his shoulder (Like U turn)... Ambulance was called and he was taken in to the hospital. Major operation has undergone and a steel road was inserted in to his thigh bones for support... What would you have done when you are in his position? Including me, lost your confidence and cursing about bike racing. May be, not all at least some people. On the first week after operation he tried to walk even though the doctor said he should be in bed rest at least for two months. He never lost his confidence, he walked and walked. After two months he was able to drive scooty with no one support. When prem was telling this to me, my mind recalled a movie by Tamil actor Vikram “Dill” (The Guts)... Vikram was hurt by villan groups and admitted in hospital before his selection as a police officer. With his confidence and guts he recovered and achieved his dream…The same here... His family members and friends scolded him but he never cared about other words... He just listened what his mind and hearts says. Legs not only used for walking, it is more for balancing the whole body weight. While Bike wheeling, balancing your body with leg is more important when bike is out of control while wheeling...
During Diwali, He tried to wheel the bike and he successed and nothing happened to him. When he showed me the video captured during wheeling it doesn’t look like someone who got in to accident four months back. His face was glowing while watching the video...There are so many instances I can tell about him and about his confidence level...I thought, putting zero in bullet is not possible since it is heavy machine but he trashed away my thoughts in no point of time.
“My Right thigh is now stronger than the left and able to lift heavy weight during work outs “and also “I need to remove the steel road as I don’t want to have any foreign substance in my body”... He said with cute smile when I recently met him for the first time...
We would have read so many books, how to be confident and we implement it in our life when failure happens... But we meet someone like murali, we realize the power of the powerful word
“Being self confident”…
